A recent addition to Britannia Park, here in Ottawa. The riverside park had an octagonal retaining wall around a flagpole. A local artist, Karl Ciesluk, asked students at three elementary schools to draw pictures of poppies, which he then helped to translate into ceramic tile. He composed their creations into a mural and installed it on the retaining wall. These photos have only captured a small portion of the work. There are 16 approximately 3x6 foot sections. It is beautiful. The poem is written on the dedication plaque.
