A week ago Saturday, my beloved Seminoles played a make or break game against Clemson. Both of us are in the same division in our conference, and both of us were undefeated -- that is until we trounced the Clemson Tigers in their home stadium, 51-14. Ah, sweet victory!

Journaling: The game against Clemson was one of epic proportions. We are in the same division in the ACC, and both of us were undefeated coming into the game. Clemson was ranked number 3, and we were ranked number 5. The stakes could not have been higher. Any hope of a conference or national championship was riding on this game. There was a lot of hype regarding the quarterbacks: Tajh Boyd was the veteran senior for Clemson, and Jameis Winston was the redshirt freshman for FSU. Some commentators thought the pressure would get to him, but they were wrong. On ESPN College Game Day, Lee Corso picked us to win, usually the kiss of death, and then was body slammed by the Piggly Wiggly t-shirt-wearing Bill Murray. This time Lee was right, and Bill was wrong.

The clearly partisan crowd at Memorial Stadium was stunned into silence by the dominating performance of the Noles. Memorial Stadium has not been kind to the Seminoles in the last 12 years; we hadnít won there since 2001. That didnít seem to matter to Jameis Winston who passed for a career-high 444 yards, leading the Seminoles to a rout of the Tigers in their home stadium. Our 51 points were the most scored by a visiting team in Death Valley. For most of the game, Clemson had only one score; their second touchdown in the final 13 seconds of the games was clearly a pity score.

I watched the game in our hotel room in Charleston on the first leg of our trip to Little Switzerland. I tried to keep the cheering down since we had neighbors on either side of us, but it wasnít easy. We manhandled the then undefeated number 3 team in the nation in their house. It was a sweet, sweet victory, and we moved one step closer to another ACC championship and perhaps a trip to the big show. 10.19.13
