Carol, I'm including this in the haunted stories challenge category because it is a folk story that haunts me when I read it to the very end! LOL!

The background:
Today I read the book, There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly, illustrated by Simms Taback, to my youngest grandson. The words are based on an old folk poem and the illustrations are delightful. I borrowed heavily on his style to create this layout and changed the old lady to look like a Halloween witch to fit Carol's haunted story theme. TFL

the rest of the story:
After swallowing the fly, she swallows, in order,
a spider
a bird
a cat
a dog
a cow
and a horse.
The last line is, She died, of course!
