So, I'm having a romp through the gallery this morning, catching up on all of the awesome pages I've missed the last few days, when I came upon this stunner by Joanne (jcaruth910). Her beautiful page reminded me that I, too, have several photos of aspens all dressed up in their autumn finery. I took them last year when Mr. Squeak and I were on The Great Southwest Road Trip of 2012, and since I have yet to finish that book, it gave me the most marvelous reason to cancel my Sunday chores and scrap one such photo. (Like I needed a reason to cancel chores! Ha! But seriously, who needs clean clothes or clean floors when there are photos calling out to be scrapped? )
This photo was taken along Old Fall River Road in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. We weren't sure we were going to see any fall colors at all, since our trip was rather early in the autumn season, so we were delighted when we discovered that the leaves were already turning.
The page title, "Starwood and Aspen," is the title of an old John Denver song. For pretty much our entire visit to Colorado I was singing John Denver songs at the top of my lungs. Peter was both pleased and relieved when we finally crossed the border into New Mexico and I quit singing!
