I am very late in getting this challenge posted but here goes.
Journaling: I suppose that everything is a matter of perspective. When David and I made our first trip ever to Bryce Canyon Utah in the fall of 2007, I was completely blown away. I could have sat there all day watching the interplay of sun and shadow over the faces of the hoodoos. In the space of a few minutes, the formations shifted from palest pink to an intense brick red and then back again. The forces of erosion have left whimsical figures such as the “king and queen” presiding over their limestone chessboard. But the very things I found so fascinating were merely an irritant to Mormon settler Ebenezer Bryce, for whom the canyon is named. When questioned about how he felt, having a national treasure in his “back yard”, he reportedly replied, “It’s a hell of a place to lose a cow.” (And if ranching is one’s livelihood, I can see where he probably had a point.)
