Just a random photo I took of my mum recently, which turned out to be probably one of the best I've ever taken.

Mum absolutely hates getting her photo taken, although with me as a daughter she has had to put up with the camera being around more often than not. She will have the good grace to grin and bear it, but tell me to hurry up and take the damn thing!

There was great light coming into her bedroom on this particular morning when I was staying over with her in Geelong, and I got her to sit on the bed and smile. So many unnatural and forced shots, I just about gave up. I remember saying something, I can’t even remember what it was now, but it was something silly and unexpected and she relaxed and started to laugh and bam! There was the shot. This would have to be my most favourite photo of mum ever, it’s natural, she looks genuinely happy, you can see it in her eyes. I think if I never take another shot of mum ever, then I will be ecstatic that I got this one.
