A new picture with an old story.

Journaling: When Linda and I met at the Central Florida Writing Project in 1997, we became fast friends. It didnít take long for her to introduce me to Marc, and I soon began to visit their house regularly. One of the first times I met Don we were sitting in the living room chatting, and he started talking about science. He regularly talks about science and technology, and Iíve gotten used to that. In the beginning, though, it was a little intimidating. I didnít often know what he was talking about. Iím an English teacher, for heavenís sake! On this particular day, in a normal conversation, he brought up the 2nd law of thermodynamics. Iím certain he wasnít expecting any of us in the room to know what he was talking about, but I said, ďOh yeah...thatís entropy!Ē He gave me a rather stunned look at that point. I knew right then that I was in. I had hooked him with my knowledge of entropy. We have a lot of Hoenstine stories that mostly revolve around the exploits of kooky family members, but ďentropyĒ is the first family story of my own. It still makes me giggle every time I think of his surprised face.
