Monday 31st December 2012

A beautiful day weather wise to end the year on. I worked but left around 3.30pm, there was a night ahead to celebrate.

I've always wanted to go somewhere on New Years Eve that we could dress up and celebrate. Tonight we had that opportunity as we were not just seeing out the old year and ringing in the new, but we were also celebrating at Tabatha and Aaron's engagement party. A masquerade party at that!

It was warm enough to be sleeveless and we grabbed some photos of us at home on the tripod. Thank goodness because when you hand your big girl camera over at a party to try to get a good photo of you, you end up with more blurry shots than focussed ones, which is what happened.

On the way into Warrnambool we saw a lot of stray sheep on the edge of the highway, having escaped from a nearby paddock. I rang the police to ring the Ranger. I'd hate to think an unsuspecting car would have an accident in the dark. I'm sure the ranger would have cursed us calling him out.

We had a beautiful meal, enjoyed the company of all the kids on this special night, together with Tabby and Aaron's family and friends. The party wound up just after 11pm and then we headed to Canon Hill to get a good spot for the fireworks. As luck would have it, Wes pulled up alongside so joined us watching the spectacle.

The fireworks at midnight were brief but colorful and I got some good shots, the first time I've had the opportunity to shoot fireworks.

Headed home, watching out for wayward sheep, had a hot drink and then went to bed. 2013 had well and truly begun.
