3 little americans (playing with paper)
so very inspired by the playing with paper challenge on the blog.
some reflections on trying to celebrate the 4th while we are outside America:
It’s a major American holiday today and once again I am torn in trying to figure out how to represent the huge-ness of it to my kids. Growing up in America, the 4th of July was just a day for fireworks and barbeques. But raising kids outside of America grows in me the urge to celebrate America more than ever. Not just our own family day of remembering our roots, but a great, big tribute of a day with stories of all that America is and tears and hope and prayers for our country’s future and all that it will become, whether that will be “home” ever or not. But I still don’t know how to do that. So today, we are just dressing in red, white, and blue. Yay, America!
