Greetings, DD'ers and Happy Saturday! Hope your weekend is going well so far. Me, I am lovin' my Saturday morning, as I am doing one of my most favorite things wearing some of my most favorite clothes: I am still in my jammies and I am scrapping! Can't get any better than that! Smile (sometimes I think I need to get out more, but then I open up a new Photoshop document and those feelings go away... Smile )

Friday evening was certainly a wild time, so I'm glad for a quiet morning to detox. It all started with Cassie's latest 30MM challenge. It was scheduled for Friday and I really wanted to participate in it. Trouble is, I was still at work (the challenge started at 5pm my time and in my line of work the day rarely ends at 5pm), and a couple of my co-workers were trying to talk to me about, well, work stuff. Geeze, don't you just hate it when that happens? They must have seen that I was getting restless and distracted because they concluded their discussions relatively quickly, but still, by the time they left it was 5:20 p.m. Sigh. I figured I'd drop into the challenge chat anyway and see if I could catch up. Scrapping at work is rather difficult, as I have very few photos on the laptop I use for work, and I have even fewer scrapping supplies on that computer (I think my boss, Le Grande Fromage, would be surprised to learn that I have ANY scrapping supplies on my work laptop, but I digress...um, let's just keep that last bit among ourselves, 'K?) Okay, so here I am frantically searching for a photo to scrap, when I read on the chat thread that the second suspect in the Boston Marathon bombing has been captured and that the event is being broadcast live. So now I'm looking for a photo and at the same time I'm trying to get my page set up and trying to follow the news online when another co-worker comes in and tries to ask me a work-related question.

I snapped like a dry twig.

It wasn't pretty.

All's well that ends well, though. I got my page posted, I apologized to my co-worker (who graciously accepted, but my guess is he won't be interrupting me anymore when I throw him that "I'm BUSY!!!" look!) and most importantly, the second suspect was captured. Way to go, Boston!

So, I've been very grateful for a quiet, peaceful Saturday morning, a morning that I've spent scrapping.

"Why did you put ants on this page?" asked my best beloved when he saw what I was working on. "What do ants have to do with navel gazing?" I'm not sure he really wanted the answer, but the story is this...

I don't often re-work a page that I've posted to the gallery, but sometimes my 30MM challenge pages are the exception to that rule. Smile Usually after I've posted a 30MM page I think of other stuff I'd like to add. Why oh why can't I think of that stuff during the challenge?!?

Aaaaaanway...

The photo on this page is of the daughter of some friends of ours. A bunch of us had gone on a picnic together at a local park. This was a few years ago, at around the same time I was "discovering" digital scrapbooking, and the pages I made for that event were among my first-ever digital scrapbook layouts. Looking at them now, I see they are more appropriately called "lameouts." I'm not crazy mad about them and so as time permits I've been re-working those pages (because, you know, I'm all caught up on all of my other scrapping projects!); it just so happens that I had the folder of photos from that event on a flash drive that I always carry with me, and that's how I happened to pick this photo for the 30MM challenge. I decided to re-work the challenge page, adding some elements to sort of tie this page in with other pages I've made for the same event. See, for example, this page. The ants and some other elements that are on that page are now also on this one.

"Huh," says Mr. Squeak, when I concluded the story. "What's for lunch?"

Sigh.

Oh, and in case you can't read it, Ant is thinking, "Sigh. If only they could stay this little for a while longer..."
