Prompted by a comment made by a cashier in the grocery store this morning. Perhaps she was having a bad day, but she told the gentleman ahead of me in line, that they no longer accepted pennies. I politely pointed out that the penny was still legal tender and therefore, had to be accepted by her. She argued, that she no longer had pennies in her till. I agreed that she might not be able to give them as change any longer, but that she was still obligated to accept them from customers. She argued some more, then said that she stood corrected....
In a fiscally responsible move by our government, the penny, (which cost $0.016 to make) is no longer minted in Canada. Will future generations offer a nickel for your thoughts?
