Journaling:By the 19th of December, the lights on the tree had serious “issues.” What started as a small pocket of dead lights on the back of the tree had spread all the way around the center of the tree. Luckily, the strands that were woven in very close to the truck were still on so there was not a total dark hole in the decorations. These were the new strands too, so obviously they do not hold up well. I have used the clear mini-lights for about 30 years (not the same strands obviously but the same look) and I really do not like the clear LED lights. To me they look cold and unfriendly. The multi-colored LEDs are OK, I guess. I am slowly coming to grips with the idea that I may have to go for a new look next year, as it becomes increasingly more difficult to find the incandescent clear minis. Maybe I should go with the old German tradition and use real candles. Then again, there is probably a flaw or two in that idea.
