Friday 14th December 2012

After a night of never-ending rain, we woke up this morning to find it still raining, and it rained all day too, not hard, but steady and drenching, and humid as well. The Carols by Candlelight wonít be on the village green tonight, way too wet, which is a shame, itís one of my favourite nights of the year.

I ventured into Target at lunchtime for a few last minute family gifts ready for the weekend, woah! Never again! It was bedlam, the line at the registers was nearly out the door.

So glad that the week is over, it was a busy day today. I asked Mike what he did today, anything out of the unusual? Hmm nope. He said ďI bound reeds in the morning, I tuned reeds in the afternoon, then I stamped the reeds after thatĒ. Yep, just another day at the office for him. He did however turn into the mad scientist late afternoon making up some more of his home brew.

So the Carols ended up at the Soldiersí Memorial Hall. Firstly the fact that the Masons were not organising it this year was nice, in that I was actually going to get to sit through the concert with Mike, instead of him running around with a clipboard here, there and everywhere. But the new organisers lost control of the concert pretty early in, it was a fairly ordinary night, no singing along. We slipped out before santa arrived at 9.30pm, because we knew it would be mass chaos then, the children were getting restless. We did get to sit and relax with Tony and Jen, and catch up with a few friends in the hall so all was not lost.

Right now, itís late, Iím journalling this page so itís fresh as itís happening, Mike is lounging on the couch watching Lord of the Rings.

And ... itís still raining!
