journaling reads:
Christmas eve twenty twelve and the weather was calling for light rain possible.
Then the snow started. It was light flakes, not sticking and made us smile
thinking maybe it really is Christmas afterall. Because it hadn’t felt like
Christmas at all this year. We packed up the car with gifts and goodies and
picked Kelly up from work to head out to my sister’s in west central Maryland. As
we got further west the snow became heavier and the roads slushier. Then a call
came in from my sister to tell us that the road into her [very hilly] neighborhood
was closed and we’d have to take a back way. Meanwhile we are watching cars
spin off the interstate... so we make the difficult decision to turn around and
head back home. It was a three hour road trip to nowhere but we were safely at
home to celebrate Christmas just the three of us.
