I'm not quite sure about the face that Shannon's making in that one photo, but she loved being in the cockpit of two AF planes... during takeoff! I.am.officially.jealous!

JOURNALING
Yes, you are really on the headsets listening to the pilots, navigator and control tower. And, yes, you are really seated and taking off in the cockpit of an Air Force plane! Once in a KC-135 refueling tanker (from AFA to Fresno) and one in a C-17 cargo plane (from San Diego to AFA). Whenever the team flies “MilAir” (military transport as opposed to a commercial airline), the freshmen get first ‘dibs’ on the “nav seat”. And you nabbed it twice! And, even got the aft refueling observation window on the return flight in the KC-135. Truly amazing experiences!
