journaling:
i remember being shocked when my mother announced that she didn’t think she would put up a tree one christmas. she felt it was just too much work and wasn’t up to the task. that will NEVER happen to me i righteously declared. but, like so many things in life, time provides perspective. more than once in recent years i’ve toyed with the idea of not putting up a tree; usually in january when i’ve just taken it down. but let’s be honest. i know that as soon as thanksgiving has passed my feet will be planted on a chair stringing lights, hanging ornaments and singing carols. let the merriment begin; for at least one more year!

Isn't it wonderful that we aren't locked into what we say in January, Debbie? I have said the same thing that you, your mother and MaMaw said about not putting up the tree. Well, I never said I would put the tree up . . . but that I would put fewer decorations all over the house! So glad that you changed your mind and took a photo of your process of decorating.
