For our final gratitude challenge on the DD blog... Simply Thankful.
What a wonderful challenge... thank you, Joanne. It's an honor (and admittedly hard) for me to share my gratitude for my mother. She passed away this spring and our hearts are heavy this holiday season, especially my dad. But, I have continued to focus on all that she was and all that she gave to us... to me.
And, yes, I sat at my computer more than once in tears as I scrapped, but I am thankful for this challenge so I could get this story told.

JOURNALING
Oh, yes... I am thankful... more than anyone will ever know. Including you, Mom. I just hope that you truly knew how much I loved you and how so very grateful I am that you were my mom. That you were the one I could always turn to for advice, support or just a chat. I am so thankful for all the years we had together. And, very grateful for the extra years that, frankly, not one doctor thought you would see. Iím so incredibly grateful that your grandchildren got to love you and spend lots of time with you (and Dad) and experience so much under your guidance, teaching and love. Iím thankful for your unconditional love and support. For you always knowing the right thing to say and the right thing to do. For showing my children that family is important. And that everyone should be treated equally, with kindness and respect. You were truly the epitome of all that is good and you were an amazing role model for Laurie and I and your granddaughters, Shannon and Laney. By Godís grace, I was your daughter... and oh, yes, I am so very, very thankful...
