Yesterday, I walked downtown to the War Memorial for the National Remembrance Day Ceremonies. Those of you who are not Canadian may not know the story of the Peace Tower, the "clock tower" on Parliament Hill. The present structure was built to replace the original tower, which burned down during WWI, and was completed approximately 2 years after the conflict ended. In the upper most chamber, is a non-denominational chapel which houses the book of Canadians who have died in the service our country. A page is turned everyday. I am thankful for those who have sacrificed their lives fighting oppression.
