totally unexpected

If any of you Mark iii owners have suggestions on what lens they like to use on this camera, I'd love to hear. Thanks!
I think I need to find a cheaper hobby....

I already have a 100mm/2.8 and 50mm/1.4

Update 09262012: I found out the reason for my Err99. Sharing this in case you see it in future. It's a shutter issue. If you remove the lens and pull up the mirror, you can see the shutter curtains. one of mine is 'stuck'. Found a video online and see that it can be replaced by oneself (will save you close to $300), but I don't think I'd be able to myself.

Oh, Seema . . . you have a dilemma on your hands, don't you? First of all buying a new camera takes lots of thought and courage (at least for me it does) . . . and being forced to get a new one makes it even harder. I hate learning curves too . . . too much to learn when you just want a comfort zone adds up to no fun! I hope that you get it all under your belt before vacation . . . I am sure that your photos will be wonderful by the time you are on your way. I love that you scrapped your feeling about all of this . . . and love the photo of the balloon. Sorry that you weren't able to take the photos you wanted. Wink

What a shame you weren't able to get lots of pictures of the balloons, but that's pretty cool about the new camera. No advice for you -- I'm a Nikon girl!

LOL!! I agree that our hobbies can be expensive!! I have the Mark II and I just love it!! I have three lenes...the 50 mm f/1.4, 85 mm f/1.8 and the 24-70 mm f/2.8. I love them all, but the first two are less expensive and not as heavy! Hope this helps!

Bummer your camera is likely broken... I got a Canon D60 in the Spring and a new lens and I am very happy with them. Good luck deciding!

First off I LOVE the look of your page! The photo and crop is gorgeous and I love what you've done with the elements. Beautiful and eye catching.

I had Error 99 pop up at the end of a night when I was helping a friend at a wedding. The guy at the camera store told me the same, that it could be anything and then looked inside and with a shocked look on his face said, "How much do you use this? You've worn out the shutters!" Then he said, "Let me introduce you to our professional line." lol I had mine fixed and it was $250 so I kept it as a back up. I then looked at his professional line and after holding those huge things went with the newly released T2i mostly because of how it fit in my hand. Even going from the XSi to the T2i I had things that I liked about my old one a little better (because I was use to them I think). There were other things I had to get use to, also so I think you'll get the hang of your new camera in no time. A learning process is a good thing, right. lol Congratulations on your new camera! Can't wait to see your photos. :O)
