The Old Neighborhood
Whew! My hands are shaking! Back in a moment with the credits.
This is a photo of the neighborhood where I used to live in Chicago.

...and we are back. Geeze, I love the 30MM Challenge, but I'm such a wreck afterwords! Kathleen, thanks for a fun morning!
The page story is this...
Peter and I took a week-long trip to Chicago at the beginning of August, just to see what there is to see. It's quite a wonderful place! I lived there for a year, more years ago than I care to say, so one of our excursions was a visit to my old neighborhood. The old neighborhood is now called Lakeview, although there is no view of the lake from my old street, N. Paulina Ave., about two blocks from the Lincoln and Addison El stop. I was pleased to see that some things have stayed the same--there is the Dunkin' Doughnuts shop, here is the old church--but my old street has undergone some changes. The three-story apartment building where I used to live is now a three-story single family home, the neighborhood grocery store is now a condo, and the corner bar is now a day care center! The changes are actually quite lovely, but they are not at all what I expected to see, so as we were catching the El back to downtown, I happened to glance down Lincoln Ave. and was so gratified to see that even if the businesses occupying the store fronts are now different than they were, the view from the train platform still looks like it does in my memory.
