Christmas Dishes [Sat. Lift]
My page is for this week’s Saturday Scraplift. I really liked Deborah Wagner's Ali Dancing in Peru, which Lynnie chose for her first week at the helm . . . and the minute I saw the three little stars hanging there I thought of my ongoing Christmas Ornament book. Then I thought of a knife, fork and spoon hanging instead of ornaments and thought that maybe I should include our Christmas table in the book along with the ornaments. So, I am scrapping Christmas . . . just striking while the iron is hot! Had I waited, the idea would have disappeared from my head. I will be making a couple of companion pages for this using photos of my holiday table with a better look at the dishes . . . I found that the only photos which I have are with a messy table . . . such as the one I used here . . . I couldn’t resist!
Journaling: I remember many years ago a friend of mine received a set of Christmas china for a wedding gift. That was a extravagance that we couldn’t afford at the time, so I put it out of my mind. I had solid white china and that worked well for all of the holidays . . . and then Old Time Pottery moved to our town . . . and I bought a pretty service for eight of an inexpensive Christmas china that I enjoyed so much for years. They also had a few pieces of Spode’s Christmas Tree pattern, which I picked up for a pittance! Years later Macy’s moved to a town near us and had a special after Christmas sale on the Spode dishes . . . I bought two boxes of four each . . . and the next year I bought a third box of four plates. The next year I got a dozen salad plates and I was set for all the rest of the Christmas dinners of our lives! I do love this set . . . the same set that my friend received back in the 1960’s!
