Scrapping photos from the beach before I scrap vacation photos - making me really appreciate this summer with my kids. Smile

Journaling: The kids and I ran away to Silver Beach today. It’s the first day of August, Emily is done with Freshman Gym and our vacation is about to start. It’s one of our only weeks off before school starts again and it’s a very busy week. Libby has cello lessons every day, I’m working double-time to get extra assignments and articles written to cover our vacation week, Tom is doing the same but at an even more hectic pace, Emily’s retainer broke, the dog has to go to doggy daycare, and there are endless errands to run and too many shopping trips to count that we need to do before we leave on vacation. But amid all of our packing lists and to-do lists, the beach just sounded like a better idea today. So as soon as Libby was out of cello for the morning, we packed up and headed north. And it was perfect. Warm water, lots of waves to play in, no agenda, good books to read from the library, and endless amounts of football throws to catch from Andrew. After we had had our fill of the sun and the sand and the water, we packed up and headed to Dairy Queen. There’s really not a better way to spend a day than this and I know when school starts that I will cherish these days at the beach with them so much. I won’t remember whether I got everything else done, but I will remember how much fun we had running away to the beach for the day.
