Journaling: We enjoyed our meals in Germany and Austria. Two we really enjoyed were Restaurant Ritterstub’n in Fussen and Pizzeria Roma in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Jackie particularly liked her pizza that was flat, had minimal tomato sauce with salami at the Hofenwerfen castle restaurant. One night we were tired so we planned to go to one of the restaurants across the street from our hotel. The Italian one was closed on Wednesday nights so we headed to the Chinese one. As we approached a tourist bus full of Asians got off the bus. I said, “Gee, I wonder if they are going to the Chinese restaurant.” They did! That made it very crowded so we walked down a few more blocks to find another restaurant. There was a German restaurant. It didn’t look like much but we went down the stairs and through a courtyard. It was authentically German to the point of having no English on the menu. We figured some of the German out and asked the waiter for a few translations. The girls got steak sandwiches and I got my best meal (pork roast, I think) of the entire trip.
