Sooooo many cool water color pages have been popping up in the gallery lately (Janet1949, you trend-setter, you! ); thought I'd try my hand at one, because, you know, I don't have any other projects I'm working on at the moment!
There are a ton of different tutorials out there for making a photo look like a water color painting, but I was certain that I already had something in my stash o' tutorials, and I was right. Some time ago Pattie Knox offered a series of classes at Get It Scrapped called "Mad Digi Skills." The painting technique was taught in the "Even More Mad Digi Skills" class. Pattie's technique plus Katie's brush and voilà! Instant painting!
The photo I used here was one taken by my mom way back in the 1950's (Wait! That can't be right! HOW old am I, again?!?), when she and some of her friends from nursing school traveled to Bermuda and then stayed on for a year, finding employment at the local hospital. She spoke often and spoke fondly of her time there. I've had traveling on my mind for eons now; spending time lounging on a beach, feet up, umbrella in drink, with nary a lab bench in site, is my goal for this summer and Bermuda is on my list of places to visit, so this page practically made itself.
Note to self: stop dreaming and start packing!
