this is our family's favorite cookie!!

peanut butter blossoms
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2c. packed brown sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. baking soda
1 egg
2 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 3/4 c. flour
1/4 c. granulated sugar
Milk chocolate kisses or stars

Preheat oven to 350F. In a large bowl beat shortening and peanut butter with an electric mixer
on medium speed for 30 sec. Add 1/2 c. granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder and
baking soda. Beat until combined. Beat in egg, milk and vanilla. Beat in as much of the flour
as you can and stir in the rest.

Shape into 1-inch balls. Roll the balls in granulated sugar and place 2in apart on baking sheet

Bake for 10-12 min. until edges are firm and bottoms are lightly browned. Immediately press
a chocolate into the center of each cookie and transfer to wire rack

store at room temperature for 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months!
makes 54 cookies
