More pages for my 2012 journal -
Becky and I drove to Farmersville, a small town about 40 miles from Mesquite, on Sunday afternoon to the Boondoxxx Motorcross track to watch Braden race his 4-wheeler. As he was doing his warm up laps, I reached for my D700 and realized I’d left the battery on the charger at home. Thank goodness I had my new Nikon S3100 point and shoot that Steve gave me for Christmas. Not exactly the type of camera to catch those “all 4 wheels off the ground” shots, but it was better than nothing. Braden was the only racer in his category to show up, so he won 1st place by default, though we told him “those other kids knew you were going to be here and were too afraid to show up.” After his race, he was riding on another trail and we were about to leave when Keith starts running across the track ..... Braden had crashed and was crying and holding his arm, so off to the hospital we go and were told he had a broken wrist. Somehow I feel like this is going to be the first of many bumps, bruises and possible broken bones that he will experience.
