Journaling reads:
Athens celebrated Christmas in 3 main squares, in 17 neighborhoods and at 11 cultural centers, with 10 events and 700 artists for 30 days and 30 nights. The Mayor of Athens and his staff, without the financial help of the government, because of the austerity measures, organized low budget festivities, but the same splendid as those of the previous years.
The festivities were provided voluntarily and of course they were offered for free to all, while they aimed at offering joy, mainly to children.
All the artistic forces of the city were in action, offering their time and energy and tried to give to all the message of celebration, happiness and optimism, but a new meaning as well, that of solidarity, of collectiveness and of participation.
The festivals, each one with a different theme, gave the vibe of the holiday season, with more than 700 artists, musicians, music groups, singers, dancers, representatives of fine arts, actors, jogglers. And the Mayor sent the following message: “In this black period, in this black shadow of fear and uncertainty we choose the light.”

The Christmas banner reads: "Athens celebrates". The last 3 capital letters of the word Celebrates mean "Lives"
