You were so thrilled to learn that Santa would be visiting your school! And not only would he be there to kick-off Christmas break, but he would be arriving on campus by helicopter! Forget the sleigh - this was a modern-day Kris Kringle for sure! As we were waiting and watching the skies, the excitement in the air was almost palpable. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many kids in such a state of anticipation! Finally, your classmate Anthony spotted the helicopter and soon everyone was jumping up and down, hooting and hollering. Once Santa landed and exited the plane in cool dark sunglasses, all the kids were lined up from youngest to oldest grades (thank goodness you are in 2nd Grade!). Your class actually started a “we want Santa” chant that spread throughout the crowd. Each child got to give Santa a quick hi-five and received a little goody bag filled with treats from him. After seeing Santa up-close, we figured out that Superintendent Scott Eliff was being a Santa’s Helper for the day. What a great guy! Afterwards, you and your class got to continue the fun with a gift exchange and Christmas party. 12/16/11
