For some ridiculous reason, I never gave a second's thought to the fact that there might be more than one kind of bumblebee. But when I saw this one busily pollinating flowers the other day, I realized there must be several kinds. Bombus impatiens (took me a while to find out its name) isn't much larger than a honey bee, but it is definitely a bumblebee. It carries the name "common eastern bumblebee". and is expanding westward. I have no idea what that flower/weed is, but the bees certainly like it.
