We've had several sunny days after months of rain, and it's brought out a flurry of butterflies!! I'm hoping that we have as many as we did last year. There are still bunches I haven't gotten pictures of - but I ramble.
Tiger swallowtail males are rather territorial, and they'll try to run off any other males that they feel are invading their territory. This never results in any damage (how much harm can a butterfly inflict, after all), but it does make for some interesting "dances". It's not a perfect picture. My shutter speed was just a little to slow (at 1/500 sec) to stop the action completely, and I was having trouble keeping them in focus, what with all the flitting here and there, but it will do. You get the idea.
