Tomorrow is Memorial Day in the USA. It's a holiday designated for the purpose of remembering all those who have died while in service to their country. In my family, there's been at least one soldier in every generation since the American Revolution. Fortunately for us, most of them survived, even in the face of injuries. Others were not so fortunate. As we honor their memories, let us reflect on what it means to be free, and the cost of that freedom.

The photo of the doughboy is of a close friend of my grandfather's who fought with him in France in WWI.
