A page about my birthday last month and observations about even big milestones in my 36th year. I think I'm finally growing up.

My 36th birthday. I received home-made gifts from Ella and Luke, got a long work-out in, and then was treated to my favorite salad at the White Chocolate Grill. It was fairly ordinary but amazingly special day spent with *my people*, and a true indication that I have finally discovered the extraordinary in the ordinary. My 36th birthday was the most remarkable milestone yet. It signified the realization of a long sought after goal of defining priorities and achieving balance in my life . There will always be more work to be done or money to be made, but when my children are grown, I won’t wish that I had worked more, I’ll wish I had spent more time with them. I am more than what I do for a living. The time is now. I don’t want to have any regrets. I can honestly say I am living in the moment right now, enjoying each day to the fullest, for both me and *my people*, being the best I can be. It’s humbling and incredibly rewarding. I’m happier, they’re happier, and in living more with less, I feel like I have finally discovered the true meaning of the American dream. Bliss is one heck of an awesome thing. April 8, 2011
