A page for my twin sister's birthday album from our trip to Japan in 1970...many, many moons ago.

During our trip we stayed with the Ichimonji family. We met one of their sons when he was visiting the U.S. and he invited us to spend a month at their home in Japan. The lived in a traditional Japanese house with a very small but cozy kitchen...and two cooks and a housekeeper. I didn't really understand why they needed help living in such a small home, but both parents were doctors and very busy. (The housekeeper even rolled up our mats for us in the morning.)

Journaling: We enjoyed many meals sitting around the Ichimonji dining table. So glad there was a hole in the floor for our feet so we didnít have to sit on our knees. August 1970
