I love the Mammoth, California area. So much beautiful country. We took a very short (too short) trip to Mammoth in early November, and while there went to see Mono Lake as well. I had never taken the time to see the south tufa area, and pleaded with my DH to see that rather than take the scenic drive to see the autumn foliage. He gave in, and it gave my DD & I a few hours taking photos.

This photo is a boardwalk to the water's edge. Looking down this winding path you can see just a bit of the Tufa. It was a warm day in November - mid 70's there, but rain was heading our way. The clouds were so dark on half of the lake, and the other half had broken clouds with the sun shining through. It made for some spectacular photos, intensifying the colors in the scenery. When done, we got in the car, and it started pouring down rain, so our cameras stayed dry!

I have been wanting to scrap the photos, but because I so love this area, I wanted to be certain to do them justice, and when I saw the 3K3W, I figured I would pick one photo, and hope I would do alright. More to come.

Quote reads: It is not necessarily those lands which are the most fertile or most favored climate that seem to me the happiest, but those in which a long stroke of adaptation between man and his environment has brought out the best qualities of both.
