Photo of my fraternal grandmother--a belated First Communion due to her mother's illness and death when she was 8 years old. She was the youngest of six children--her mother migrated to the US from Poland and her father from Germany--they were both Catholic. Her head piece is pretty cool--a veil attached to a ring of flowers and leaves.
