I've given my daughter an ornament for each of her 23 Christmases. This is the last year that they'll hang on our tree. She's getting married in May, and from the beginning, the plan has been that these (and the other ornaments she's been given along the way) will go with her to her new home and be the first decorations for her own Christmas tree. It is a joy (tinged with the unique kind of sorrow that comprises nostalgia) to see that long time plan unfolding before my eyes.
