As the days went by, we realized we would have to combine different places if we were to see half the things we wanted to see. Not far from Kapaa is the Wailua River State Park, with many heiau, ancient worship sites. I suppose those are now holy roosters? We loved the view of the Wailau river but I passed on a boat trip. Too much like a trip up the Zambezi with the humidity. We crossed over the island ( where our GPS gave out) to Hanapepe, and had a mediocre lunch there. But there was a bookstore which we enjoyed a lot. A Japanese dinner and macadamias for dessert.
