These photos say so much to me. They show the floods this year - fairly typical of February for us! My dd is a farm girl to her core (I think it is genetic as she is the 6th generation of her family to have property at Rolland's Plains, and that takes us back to early convict days in Port Macquarie!). I love that it captures so much that is iconic for Aussies on the land. Di is wearing her trusty DrizaBone, the famous caped oilskin riding coat with a fantail back that opens to cover and protect the saddle - so important when one is moving stock to high ground in flood conditions. Her trusty Australian kelpie is by her side ( we've always had kelpies - so clever with cattle!). Finally it shows how country folk meet in pouring rain to discuss important issues such as "Do you think the bridge will go under?" Yes, for me these photos paint a picture of country life - one I used to lead, but one my daughter still embraces!
