My uncle Bob and his best friend Major were two of the very few that came out of the Pacific Theatre's horrific battles with no physical wounds. Major and my aunt Marge grew up in an orphanage together. Major introduced Marge and Bob through letters and the correspondence continued for the three years Bob was deployed, never meeting face-to-face during that time. They married within a year of his return from the war and it was a love affair that lasted over 60 years... beyond Bob's death in 2007. Bob and Major never spoke of the war after they returned stateside.
note: I have been inspired by several DD artist lately and my inspiration comes from all of them for many reason. Chris' (casbury) WWI Shipmates http://www.designerdigitals.com/digital-scrapbooking/ideas/data/1490/WWIShipmates.jpg began this journey and Carolee (Carol's) pages for Mike, Erica67 (Erica's) work and Whatnext (Phylis) all have led me to explore and I've loved every minute. Really got the mojo going again. Thanks to all of you and other's that create in the same mask and blending style. And yes, Bob and Major did have emotional issues all their life from the horror of the Pacific battles but their faith and personal strength carried them through the war memories.
