Journaling: I’ve been thinking about my bicycle for a couple weeks now, and on this warm Sunday afternoon I ask Dave to pump up my tires so I can take it for a spin. As always, the reservoir draws me: maybe there will be swans or ducks to photograph, maybe there are wildflowers attrracting butterflies, maybe I will be able to pedal all the way up the hill on the way back--or maybe not. There is one lonely goose, and the sky is hazy, nothing’s in bloom, and I’ve forgotten my water bottle, but I manage my way up the hill without giving up and walking. I even extend the ride a bit by going home a different way. It’s spring, and I think it’s going to
be a cycling summer in 2010.
