Page Kraft: Write True and Click 'Opportunity'/The Biggest Story of 2009

Well, I don't know about "carefully wrought, deeply written and truly photographed"--but this is a new opportunity and I'm all about that!

This took an unexpected humorous turn, yet proved to be therapeutic--which ranks at the top of my list when it comes to 'reasons to scrapbook' !!!

Feedback welcome! The 'click' part of this page presented a challenge! My mixer is a light pink and my photos were probably overexposed so the mixer looked washed out and barely pink. Well, I boosted the saturation in PSE to get the color I wanted, but ended up with some small funky streaks of neon color! Practice, I need more practice!

The fact that I own a pink mixer is not really THE biggest story of 2009, but representative of THE story. Not until the rush of the holidays subsided, did I bother to do the math! December 28, 2009, marked twenty-five years since my breast cancer diagnosis. Time really does fly when you’re having fun!

I think to myself, “I should celebrate!”

Well, let’s see. I could host a huge party and serve only pink food. Shopping list: shrimp, peppermint ice cream, lemonade--pink of course, and pink grapefruit. Uck, sounds like the ingredients for a food challenge on the show Chopped! And besides, I like big parties, but prefer intimate gatherings.

Maybe a lingerie shower! Invitations and all! Hum, not much fun for guests to purchase lymphedema arm and glove garments custom ordered from Germany or medical bras! (Not to mention the expense!)

Perhaps a shopping spree at the Victoria Secret Sale for non-custom items! I still haven’t ruled out this idea!

Just received a reminder card in the mail (now on the fridge) to schedule my one-year checkup with my plastic surgeon. In 2009, my reconstruction was in need of reconstruction! I’m sure the doctor and office staff would love to hear my good news and raise a plastic, stemmed glass full of non-alcoholic bubbly! It’s a swell group of people so I’ll keep this option on the short list!

No time right now for a trip around the world! Maybe someday!

Then it dawned on me! Why not celebrate with my favorite activity--Digi Scrapbooking! I headed to the Designer Digitals store and wielded my virtual shopping cart into bliss. After purchasing Michelle Martin’s Alyssa paper collection from the comfort of my own home studio, I created a couple of pages with complete satisfaction!

To many, this form of celebration may seem kind of lame, but hey, it’s my party and I’ll scrap if I want to, scrap if I want to, scrap if I want to! You would scrap too if it happened to you! (Revised version of Lesley Gore’s 1965 pop hit !)

So, the REAL story of 2009 has a happy ending. I’m twenty-five years older and hope to Digi Scrapbook for another twenty-five!

Note: I originally planned to do a 2-page spread on this topic (links below) and call it a day, but when two new challenges hit the blog, I decided I needed to continue my celebration!
