JOURNALING
When Mom and Dad made the decision to move, in the fall of the year, into an assisted living facility and offered Mike and me the opportunity to rent their house, we were delighted to accept, never imagining that we would still be in the process of moving in when mid-December rolled around. We hadn’t anticipated the job it would be, dealing with all of the stuff they’d left behind while at the same time trying to get our own stuff moved in. Especially with the holidays fast-approaching, I thought it important that there be at least one small oasis of calm amidst the disorder reigning in the rest of our new home, so I made it a priority to get the living room cleared of boxes and pulled together as quickly as possible, and once I’d done that my next priority was to add a few Christmasey touches. (I might have added more, but I had to work with what I could find!)
