I have very few photos of my father when he was young, this one probably taken about 1927, its not a very good photo but I love the look of it - the striped blazer, the tennis racquet. It was taken outside the family stables, I think he was about 19. He had come to Australia from Scotland with his parents when he was about 4 years old. His family settled in Sydney and his father had a bakery. Bill was "apprenticed" to his father when he was in his early teens. He was a good sportsman and loved playing golf and tennis; and enjoyed the beautiful beaches at Manly and Palm Beach. I have included on the journal tag in the negative sleeve dad's best Scotch shortbread recipe - I always make some for Christmas!
