Journaling:
My biggest fear in being the mother to a little boy was dealing with philosophy of Beat, Stomp, Kill that emanates from most boys. I wanted my boy to be sensitive but not a sissy. When he is a grown up I wanted him to be able to recycle all of the love and affection that we have given him and share it with others. I didn’t have to wait until he grew up. AJ takes anyone or anything under his wing and recycles love and affection he has received to make them feel comfortable, but don’t try to take advantage of him or he will quickly put you back in place.
Today we picked up a new batch of chickens to raise and provide us with fresh eggs. We selected 8 special chicks to call our very own and AJ proudly carried his “peeps” to the car and insisted that they ride in the back seat with him. As chicks usually are, these were rather noisy, peeping and making quite a bit of noise. We made it about half way home before I heard him start to talk to them to calm them down. I think it went something like this. . . “Oh baby chickens, I bet you are scared because you can’t find your mommy and daddy. . . Don’t worry; I’ll take care of you till we find them.” You so carefully took these new babies to their new home and watched over them until you were confident they would be okay.
