Journaling:
May 19, 1967, Quang Tri Province - Philiip, Flippy, as he was known by family, lived with Grandma & Grandpa Woods for several years. He was laways around to help out with wheat harvest, and acted more like a brother than an uncle to mom & her siblings. Flippy served in the Navy during the Vietnam war. His comrads called him Doc Hines as he was a medic. He was working as a medic with the Marines when a a big fire fight broke out. Flippy was helping fallen soldiers when shrapnal hit & killed him. His lifesaving skills didn't end when he died. While being airlifted out with wounded soldiers, the helicopter came under enemy fire. Flippy's body absorbed the munitions and saved the lives of fellow soldiers. You are missed, Flippy.
