This challenge was perfect for a page that's been on my "to scrap" list:
my trip last weekend to the Museum of Picture Book Art in Amherst, MA for a book signing with Eric Carle.
The strips of color are intended to mirror Mr. Carle's collage illustration style; I also put them in the "rough" shape of a caterpillar. : )

The Very Hungry Caterpillar is my all-time favorite children's book - wonderful story, great illustrations. . . and that caterpillar is just so darn cute! Anyway, the opportunity to meet Mr. Carle (the year he turns 80 and the Caterpillar turns 40) was just too good to pass up. And it really was a great experience! It was also refreshing to learn that I'm not the only adult out there who's a Hungry Caterpillar admirer: the woman in line in front of me had part of the story tattooed on both legs - now that's what I call a dedicated fan!
If you are interested in the Picture Book Museum, you can find it at:

Text in the green strips are quotes from the book (as the caterpillar is eating his way through the week).
