(Page 1)
Slowly but surely - another couple of pages from our trip to Europe. Our first afternoon in Ljubljana, we took a walking tour of the Old Town. It was a wonderful introduction to the city and we really enjoyed it.

Walking Tour, Ljubljana: Old town, the castle, the market & more

1. Town Hall:
We began our walking tour at Ljubljana’s Town Hall. When we arrived, the bells were ringing and a recently wed
couple and their guests were mingling in the square.
We were the only people who showed up for the walk, so we got a private tour with our guide, Simona.

2. St. Nicholas Cathedral:
From Town Hall, we continued to the Cathedral. Simona explained the church’s fascinating set of metal doors,
commissioned in of honor Pope John Paul’s visit in 1996. The two doors depict the history of Christianity in Slovenia.
The Cathedral’s interior is Italian Baroque, with many very colorful frescos adorning the ceilings and walls.
