I've been wanting to scrap this photo for a while. . . it's of a resident island cat in Croatia. He came up to me while I was eating lunch at an outdoor cafe and we spent 5 minutes staring at each other - him meowing and begging for food and me wondering if I should give in and give him some or not. This memory spurred another Alice in Wonderland quote. I've adapted Alice's conversation with the Cheshire Cat (about his MAD world) to fit my story. Original quote is here (6th one down)

And if you're wondering, yes–I did give him a little bite of my sandwich! He was so persistent : )

Conversation with the cat reads:
{cat} Hey lady, can you spare me some love?
{me} Pet you? Oh, no, I’m sorry– you’re a bit, well, matted, I’m afraid.
{cat} Well then, how about feeding me a ham sandwich?
{me} Maybe. . . but I need to get the waiter’s attention first.
{cat} Yes, of course, but the waiter’s a bit slow–and mad, you know.
{me} The waiter? Yes, he is a bit slow. But mad? I don’t want a mad man serving me lunch.
{cat} Oh you can’t help that. Most everyone’s mad here. [meows with that mad-drunk little look on his face]
{cat} You may have noticed that I’m not all there myself. [meows again] Now how about some of that sandwich, Missy?
Even mad and matted cats have to eat, you know.
