For the journal challenge. (of course after you read this, you will know that I WAS NOT SERIOUS!) The journaling reads:

The Background: I have a terrible habit of swallowing my gum. I just can’t seem to help myself. My friend Linda was always teasing me about swallowing my gum. She lectured me all the time.

The Story: One day Linda had to go to court to evict one of her tenants. I went with her because she didn’t want to go alone. The bailiff comes into the courtroom and starts reading off rules of behavior. One of the rules, was “no chewing gum allowed.” Linda leans over and whispers to me, “I have gum in my mouth and no way to get rid of it.” I leaned over, put out my hand, and said (deadpan), “Give it to me, I’ll swallow it.”. Linda burst into laughter and of course that just made me crack up too. We both got lectured by the bailiff. Luckily, the judge had not come into the room yet.
