Art for Shopping
We just returned from our vacation and as always, I took hundreds of photos. I am always fascinated by street scenes and architectural details. This is the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele in Milan, and I was struck by the beautiful light and myriad textures everywhere. But the best thing about this beautiful space is the complete dichotomy that plays out between the artful architecture above and the commerce below: every day, thousands of locals and tourists pass beneath this amazing dome to buy everything from Prada shoes to McDonald's value meals. Truly, shopping in style!

Journaling: "Standing under the dome, I stop for a moment to drink in the Neo-Classical beauty all around. If I lived here, I would go every day just to gaze at the architecture. But the Milanese go for the shopping."
